Celebrating 5 years of Island Vibes: Online Hula Dance for Women & Girls

January 12, 2026 Sumera Quadri

It’s 2026, and I thought it was time to highlight this unique and beautiful dance fitness program and our instructor, Cheryl, who has been with us for over 5 years.

Since 2020, we’ve kept members moving while bringing a little bit of a "vacation" into their living rooms. What started as a way to stay active during the pandemic has grown into a seasonal community program that we are so proud to run in the Fall and Winter online by demand.

While you can find a Zumba or HIIT class on almost every gym and center, our Hula-inspired fitness is hard to come by. It is a specialized art form that offers a unique way to build core strength, coordination, and grace. We’ve worked hard to create a program that isn't just "another workout"—it’s an experience.

Our instructor, Cheryl, has designed a program that honors tradition while keeping you moving for the entire hour using her 20 years of Hula Dance Training (from her mother’s Hula school) and fitness instructor back round. We have created a low-impact dance workout that combines Hula dance routines from Samoa, Hawaii, and Tahiti and rhythms and drums from the Pacific Islands. To connect to a broader audience, Cheryl includes Reggae, 90s Hip-hop, and Disney’s Moana songs in her classes.

This is a drop-in and beginner-friendly program that can be done wearing indoor shoes or barefoot on a mat or floor.

To join us from the warmth and privacy of your own home, you can simply get drop-in passes and start dancing whenever you’re ready for a break from the everyday.
